All you really need in the kitchen is a good stainless steel cookware set and one non-stick Teflon coated skillet. One does not need a complete set of each (plus who has all the money). So this is a great set that heats evenly and its heavy bottom won't scorch your food the minute it hits the pans. I've cooked on some flimsy stainless steel pots and pans before and I can proudly state that this KitchenAid set is sturdy and will aid in your cooking. My only, very small complaint, is that the handles should've been completely surrounded by silicone. Those small little parts of metal that are exposed can do harm. But it's nothing an oven mitt can't handle.

Now, I also suggest you get one non-stick skillet because you are not meant to make eggs or sticky foods on stainless steel. One skillet will work for those other foods, but this can handle everything else. It's great quality for a low price. Overall, it is a solid product. The only parts that feel cheap on them, are the handles and the lid handles. These bad boys get hot, and really hot! We are trying to learn a balance on how to cook with them. We have burned food to the bottom of them on at least two occasions. The good news, they were fairly easy to clean after the burn-on. By simply soaking in water over night, most times, the food would simply come off with a simple touch. We do have a complaint, the documentation is pretty poor, there is no how-to really with it and no informational DVD and their is no explanation for what all the extra parts do. So if you get this set, you will definitely need to do some experimenting. We still are having some trouble with them at times while cooking, but it seems to be getting better. I just started culinary school and wanted a set of stainless steel cookware to practice with at home, but I didn't have the luxury of investing in a nice set like All-Clad. Although it was cheap, I thought it wouldn't be that bad since it was Cuisnart. Boy, was I wrong. I was sauteing some chicken and practically ruined my satue pan. The pans can't handle high heat, which is the reason why you'd buy a stainless steel cookware. If I could go back, I'd go back and pay a bit more for a higher quality cookware.
